Combined wood moisture detector for relative humidity and temperature 

as well as for the absolute humidity of wood and other materials (dew point via a nomogram)

This wood moisture detector is designed for professional use in climate measurement or building damage assessment. The wood moisture detector detects, in addition to relative humidity and ambient temperature, also the absolute moisture of materials and wood. Through an attached table, you can deduce the dew point. With this detector, you acquire a multifunction device with high precision for on-site use. Another advantage is its easy handling, small dimensions, and low weight. You can carry the wood moisture detector in your jacket pocket. Remove the front protective cap, connect the meter using the two buttons to the left of the screen (press both buttons at the same time), select the measurement mode, and you can start measuring. - Simple and very accurate.

The wood moisture detector has penetration needles for capturing the absolute moisture of the material (both wood and construction materials) and a combined sensor for relative humidity of the air and temperature (located below the front grille). The part that measures absolute moisture is not subject to any variation in its accuracy with use (stable for long duration). However, the accuracy of the sensor for relative humidity declines slightly over time and should therefore be calibrated regularly (ISO calibration, e.g. annually). This can be done by our company PCE or any accredited laboratory.

For measuring relative humidity, the wood moisture detector has a moisture sensor that operates capacitively, based on the reversible adsorption of vapor (through a polymer layer). The apparent dielectric constant of this layer, considered as the device's capacitance, is in direct proportional equilibrium with the ambient relative humidity. The sensor is located below the front grille.

The image on the left shows the wood moisture detector determining the moisture of the wall (absolute moisture in % / in this case 9.9 %). The measurement is carried out through the two measuring pins.

The two holes that are formed are very small and once the pins are removed, they are usually not visible (unless one stays on site and looks for them carefully). The measurement of absolute humidity in wood is also carried out through the penetration needles. If you want to take measurements in very hard materials, we recommend first making a hole with two nails. Then insert the detector needles.

Control device / Display

The LCD, with a height of 15 mm, clearly displays the measurement values in a legible manner. To the left of the screen are the adjustment buttons or parameters to choose from (Building Moisture for measuring construction materials, Wood Moisture for measuring wood, and the mode for relative humidity and temperature). Selection is made through the buttons located beside.
