Wood and Construction Materials Moisture Detector FME

Wood moisture detector FME

for absolute humidity of wood, automatic temperature compensation

This building materials moisture detector serves to accurately determine the absolute moisture of wood, building materials, and even paper. To do this, the building materials moisture detector has a connection for external sensors that can be inserted into or onto the material to be measured. It has an additional external temperature sensor that enables automatic temperature compensation. The device corrects the measured moisture value in real percentages taking into account the preselected material and temperature (according to dry/absolute moisture). The building materials moisture detector is perfectly suitable for monitoring building materials such as flooring, cement, plaster, mortar, concrete, and various types of wood (according to the adapted sensor). It is also recommended for technical service workers or the construction sector to perform on-site measurements and to determine moisture in walls, floors... The device has characteristic curves for different materials that can be retrieved at any time.

You will also need to choose the moisture probe that best suits the material to be measured. There are different models to choose from for different applications and corresponding materials. Thus, the moisture detector for building materials is equipped for all kinds of tasks.

Characteristic curves of the material / Temperature compensation

With this construction material moisture detector, the actual moisture content can be determined by entering the characteristic value corresponding to each material (for the memorized material characteristic curve) into the device. With the shipment, you will receive tables with over 500 characteristic values for wood, construction materials, and paper.

Temperature must also be considered. Since the material's temperature influences electrical conductivity (and thus moisture), temperature compensation must be performed. This can be done automatically with the additional temperature sensor.

Below you can see an excerpt of the characteristic curves in the alphabetical list we present with the most important woods, construction materials, and papers (the moisture detector for construction materials has 500 stored that can be retrieved). We can also send you a more complete list.

Please note that:

In the measurement of chips and knots, a slightly higher measurement value appears. In contrast, in the measurement of breaks, the moisture indicator is somewhat lower than the actual moisture value.

In both cases, further measurements should be taken in nearby areas with the building materials moisture detector and use the average value function.

Fiber direction:

Measuring in the direction of the fiber or against it does not affect the measurement result at all. The moisture detector shows the same moisture.

Moisture probes / measurement sensors:

See the wide variety of probes that can be adapted to the devices. You will have the opportunity to choose the probe that best suits your measurement needs.
