Details
The TBS1000B-EDU Digital Storage Oscilloscope series is specifically designed to meet the needs of today's schools and universities. It is the first oscilloscope to use a new innovative pedagogical system that allows educators to seamlessly integrate teaching materials into TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscopes. Courseware information is presented directly on the oscilloscope screen and can be used to provide; step-by-step instructions, background theory, tips and suggestions, or an efficient way for students to document their lab work. The instrument includes a 7-inch color TFT WVGA display, up to 2 GS/s sampling rate, bandwidths from 50 MHz to 200 MHz, dual channel frequency counters, and a standard 5-year warranty, just some of the features that make the TBS1000B-Edu the best value entry-level oscilloscope in the industry for educational activities.

When viewing signal details
To correctly analyze the signals you need to ensure that you can see in sufficient detail. The TBS1000B-EDU comes standard with a high-resolution 7-inch TFT display for a clear view of all your signals and critical information on the screen. The instrument is enhanced by a user interface inspired by the award-winning Tektronix MSO/DPO series of instruments. The interface is easy to use, provides quick access to all oscilloscope functions, and includes a high-resolution "Pan & Zoom" feature that allows you to see even more details of the signal at up to 10 times the normal resolution.
The zoom function shows details of an event up to 10 times the normal view.
Digital accuracy for precise measurements
With a maximum bandwidth of 200 MHz, a maximum sampling frequency of 2 GS/s, and a vertical measurement accuracy of 3%, the oscilloscope allows you to see all your data signals. With Tektronix's patented sampling technology, there are no compromises; you get real-time sampling frequency that appears on all channels, all the time with at least 10 times oversampling. Sampling performance is not reduced when changing horizontal settings or when using multiple channels, allowing you to see the true characteristics of your signals.
See all information on other oscilloscopes that may be lost over specific Tektronix digital sampling time.
critical tools for device troubleshooting
The TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscope allows students to learn about the advanced triggers used for today's complex debugging circuits. Standard rising or falling edge, video trigger pulse width, and mounts will allow students to quickly isolate signals of interest and explore alternative triggering options through the flexible configuration menus.
The pulse trigger function can easily capture critical events.
Once the signals are captured, the TBS1000B-EDU offers advanced mathematical and measurement capabilities, making it easy to evaluate signal quality. Users can quickly add, subtract, and multiply waveforms or use any of 34 automatic measurements to quickly and reliably calculate important signal characteristics such as frequency, rise time, or overshoot.
quickly analyze signals with 34 standard automatic measurements.
For advanced frequency analysis, a dedicated front panel button provides quick access to the FFT function that can display both frequency waveforms and time domain simultaneously, providing the student with a convenient way to understand the relationship between their signals and the FFT results.
quickly perform an FFT with a dedicated front panel button.
To further enhance the teaching process, the "auto-configuration" function oscilloscopes can be disabled. For those starting laboratories where it is important for a student to learn the basic operation of the oscilloscope, disabling auto-configuration will help them apply their knowledge of how an oscilloscope works instead of taking shortcuts with the auto-configuration button. This feature is controlled by auto-configuration and can be activated or deactivated by accessing the auto-configuration screen in the utility menu with a password.
The "auto-configuration" function can be activated or deactivated by entering a password in the utility menu.
The TBS1000B-EDU also comes with a dual channel frequency counter function. The independent activation level control of each counter provides an easy way to monitor two different signal frequencies simultaneously.
Dual channel - 6 frequency counters digits come standard with all TBS1000B-EDU models.
feature courses
The innovative Courseware feature establishes an educational ecosystem by combining powerful PC software Field Editor with TBS1000B-EDU instruments and a pedagogical landing page. The new feature allows educators to create laboratory descriptions and instructions and then upload the material directly to a TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscope. Existing laboratories can be modified with content that directly supports recent lectures or explores new ideas discovered in class discussions. Students can perform their laboratory work directly on the oscilloscope and record their progress in a report file consisting of screenshots from the oscilloscope. Course materials can be easily shared among different laboratories, teachers from the same institution, or even among educators worldwide. The Tektronix pedagogical website is set up to make it easy for educators to share their own golf material or be inspired by reviewing new and interesting ideas from their peers.
Golf PC software editor
Everything starts with the PC editing tool of educational software. This Windows-based application provides the framework in which the teaching material is developed. With simple Windows tools, instructors can create new labs or edit existing labs using text, images, formulas, or tables. A signature profile can also be created that identifies the teacher, class, or school.
The basic building block of the educational content is the laboratory section. An overview, equipment setups, theoretical discussions, and step-by-step instructions can all be included in this section. Once the laboratories of a course are completed, it can be created. In general, a course consists of several laboratories with related topics, for example, a basic digital course may consist of laboratory topics including; "Basic Boolean logic", "Simple AND & OR gates", "Clocks", "Metastable devices", "Memory devices", etc. Individual laboratories can be shared among several courses allowing teachers to tailor the course material to a specific audience. Once all courses are defined, a package file/workspace is created that contains all fields with their related laboratories and allows the content to be uploaded to a TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscope.
To accommodate regional differences in software for PC, educational software and assistant support is available in 11 different languages.
The PC software interface is used to build course laboratories. The courses are used to create packages that are loaded into the oscilloscope.
The features of the oscilloscope courses
When the workspace file is loaded onto an instrument, students can easily access the content using the dedicated "Course" button located on the front panel. By using the oscilloscope function keys and the multifunction knob, students can access up to 8 courses that can have up to 30 laboratories each. To accommodate situations where the instrument is used for multiple classes, up to 100 MB of course material can be stored in the oscilloscope. Once a laboratory is chosen, the student can review the general information section, carry out the laboratory using the step-by-step procedure, collect data, check and save the data results, and generate reports showing the waveforms created for each step in the procedure. And all this work can be done directly on the oscilloscope.
The scheduled course menus accessed via the soft oscilloscope keys provide easy access to all scheduled course features.
Tektronix Courseware landing page
To help educators find new and interesting ideas for creating content for their laboratories, Tektronix has created a pedagogical website. On this site, users can download and customize the corresponding course material or upload material to share their own laboratories with peers. The site also contains a comprehensive search engine that allows visitors to search for laboratories by keyword, author, category, topic, and/or language. Although registration is required for the site, once registered, users can download or upload material and also comment on the material they have used.
A powerful search motor makes it easy to find material of interest.
