radioactivity meter with internal memory and software
The radioactivity meter is a professional tester for the precise detection of alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. In this case, the radioactivity meter has a wide measurement range and can be used for occasional on-site measurements or for long-term measurement. This type of instrumentation provides a measurement of natural environmental radiation and artificially induced radiation up to 500 times the adjusted limit value. Applications are numerous. This Geiger counter has commonly been used in nuclear power plants. It is increasingly important in the control of imported materials, as well as in the measurement of irradiated foods. Natural radioactive radiation, such as that found near the sea, can also be measured. It also serves in the control of construction materials in factory renovations... There are three versions of this radioactivity meter: the standard version in model GS1, with acoustic signaling (Ticker) in model GS2, or the version for continuously sending data to the PC (Online) in model GS3. Radiation measurement values can be stored in the memory of the radioactivity meter and can be transmitted and evaluated on a computer using equipment included in the shipment (software and RS-232 data cable). This equipment can be used for on-site radioactivity measurements. With the Gamma-Scout Online model (GS3), data can be continuously sent to the PC in pulses of 10, 30, or 60 seconds.
Features
- Proven precision device (each radioactivity meter undergoes a final control, this review
The final is carried out by the Institute for Radiation Protection, inspected by a School
State technique and a control certificate is issued)
- All types of radiation (the device determines alpha, beta, and gamma radiation)
- Duration (this device inspects radiation day and night / no need to turn on or
turn off as well as change the battery / the battery lasts up to 10 years)
- Gran pantalla
- Data memory
- Data evaluation of radiation on the PC (the sending software allows you to transmit the
measurement data from the device to a computer for evaluation)
- Certified (the safety of GAMMA - SCOUT ® is controlled by TÜV and complies with the
European CE standard, as well as American FCC-15 standard / can also be performed
in aircraft
- Version (GS2) (The GAMMA-SCOUT® w / ALERT device produces an acoustic signal if the
radiation is above the given limit value)
Basics (Please follow the corresponding links):
What is Radioactivity?
Antoine-Henri Becquerel discovered in the late 19th century that uranium unions emit invisible radiation spontaneously, that is, without external influence.
For example, the decay of radium with alpha radiation emission. The unstable nucleus of the radioactive radium isotope (composed of 88 protons and 138 neutrons) tends to seek a more stable state. Therefore, the radium nucleus emits a so-called alpha particle, which is equivalent to a helium nucleus, composed of 2 protons and 2 neutrons. This is alpha radiation. In the link at the top or in the image, you will find a detailed explanation of radioactivity.
What are the common units of measurement for radiation protection?
We have a sense to detect ionizing radiation. To check radiation, instruments are needed that assess the effect of rays, knowledge about the type of radiation and energy type, and about the behavior of radioactive nuclei in the body.
Therefore, measuring activity, for example, does not provide any information about the biological effect or the danger of radiation.
