The porosity measurement detection method (Holitech), which applies a pulse voltage to check that coatings are free of pores, has proven to be a reliable method. Thanks to the many advantages of this technique, the porosity tester is a very valuable tool in passive corrosion protection and industrial quality control. The porosity tester (Holiday Detector, Pinhole Tester) detects and recognizes failures, defects, and deficiencies in insulated layers on conductive substrates. Wherever coatings are used to ensure protection against corrosion, it is necessary to check these coatings for deficiencies with this porosity tester. This check should be carried out as soon as possible, actually after coating, to prevent corrosion. The porosity tester sends a voltage through the brush electrode to the coating. In case of deficiencies or defects in the coating, the voltage is transmitted to the base material. In such a case, a spark occurs, which the porosity tester (Holitech) displays optically and acoustically. These defects can be marked for later repair. The device is a compact and lightweight instrument. Thanks to these properties and the included belt, the porosity tester can be used very mobile. The meter for detecting porosity on surfaces works with a very high impedance, ensuring safe checking without damaging the material.
