The automotive meter Trummeter is an electronic measuring instrument, consisting of a sensor and a microprocessor, used for measuring belt tension and controlling the force of the loop in a belt drive. When an impulse is applied to a belt, it begins to vibrate, then the automotive meter captures a measurement probe that provides the belt tension and is recorded by the optical sensor of the Trummeter meter. The measurement of constant tension force values is performed by taking into account the linear belt mass and the length of the free belt loop. Since the measurement is performed through probes by light impulse, it is important to ensure sufficient light reflection from the belt. It is not necessary to input data on the linear belt mass or the length of the free belt loop. The measurement result can be displayed optionally in Hertz, Newton, or Pound-force (imperial measure). These values can be compared with the belt tension. To achieve a long service life in a belt drive, it must be designed according to the application, the belts must be tensioned correctly, and the pulleys must be precisely aligned. The measurement of belt tension can only be carried out with the drive disconnected and at rest.
