With the ABBE AR4 refractometer, you can quickly and accurately determine the refractive index and Brix value. The ABBE AR4 refractometer indicates the refractive index between 1.3000 and 1.7000 nD, and the Brix value between 0 and 95%. The materials to be measured with the ABBE AR4 refractometer can be pasty, liquid, or, due to the location of the prisms and mirrors, also solid. To avoid adulteration from common light sources such as daylight, bulbs, or fluorescent lights, the ABBE AR4 refractometer has a built-in 589 nm LED light source. Because the refractive index changes as the temperature rises, which must be taken into account at all times, the ABBE AR4 refractometer can maintain the upper and lower prisms at the same temperature via a water circuit. The temperature in the ABBE AR4 refractometer is detected with a screwable sensor and displayed on a digital screen in the base. The application field of the ABBE AR4 refractometer is very broad and includes the cellulose, paper, textile, pharmaceuticals, chemical, and metals industries, as well as the food sector in the treatment of beverages, sugars, and sweeteners, up to wastewater control.
